THE HERO WITHOUT A CAPE
There is no problem in life that he cannot solve. There is
no fight in life that he cannot win for you. There is nothing in life that he
would not give you. He would cut down on his needs to fulfill your wants.
That’s what a father is like.
They say that he never bought himself a shirt, because he
was busy buying gifts for his family. He is the man of the house, the wisest
person in the family. He knows everything. His decisions can never be wrong. He
is strong, he never cries. He always has enough, for all that you want. He’s a
father. He is a hero without a cape.
Guess what? He is not. He feels broken from the many blows
that life has dealt him. He is weak and vulnerable. A tear or two every now and
then could come handy for his well being. He is not as wise as his family thinks
he is. He makes mistakes. He is afraid he would make the wrong decisions. He
loves you, likes to take care of you. But, he feels tired.
Sometimes, he doesn’t have enough. Sometimes, he wants a
shirt for himself too. He feels frustrated with life like you and I do.
Because, you know what? He is a human too.
Isn’t father’s day a great way to tell dad that he doesn’t
have to be perfect. There are millions of things in this world that one can
gift your father on father’s day and make him feel special. Why not gift him a
little peace and love. Why not gift him the consolation that his being human is
enough. Why not gift him the realization that he doesn’t have to be our hero
without a cape.
You know what the perfect father’s day gift would be? Take
him out shopping and let him buy the shirt he never did. And tell him, he
deserves gifts too.
