FOR THE ONES WHO DO IT ALL BY THEMSELVES
Having a partner is a crucially important thing in life. When
the going gets tough, it is the support of a partner that helps one stay
afloat. You know what they call a complete family? Two partners bringing their kids
up with the values of both. Sounds about right. But not as right as you’d think
it is, for who decides what is right?
Each mother’s day I see thousands of social media posts
lauding single women who decided to adopt kids to give them a better life, and
those who did not remarry after losing their partners and continue to be both
parents to their kids. They work, work hard, support their family and their
kids do turn out right. So, a happy father’s day to them mothers, should be
just fine.
Must be enough, don’t you think so? We’ve wished all the
single mothers, epitome of strength, a happy father’s day. But, isn’t there
something that’s missing? What, you’d ask. Take a moment. Look around, and spot
the men who work, work hard and support their family, looking after the kids
all by themselves. And, you know what? Their kids do turn out right.
It is father’s day. A special day to shower them with the
gifts they deserve. A special day to simply make them smile. A special day to
celebrate all that our dads do for us, with a little help from mum maybe. But,
there’s so many of them out there doing it all by themselves. From getting
their kids ready for school in the morning, to attending each parent-teacher
meeting, from listening to the rants of their teenagers to explaining
menstruation to their daughters, from being firm when the kids falter to
caressing their hair as they sleep in their lap, these men, the epitome of
strength do it all.
For the ones who do it all by themselves, cheers to you.
This father’s day gift your dad appreciation and adoration for the strength he
inhabits and the love he deserves.
